SHOOTING IN THIS STYLE ISN’T FOR EVERYONE

We totally get that, it’s very niche. Especially if you feel a little uncomfortable being in front of the camera, a more documentary approach to shooting— having your photographer be a fly on the wall— may be better suited for your comfort level. But for those who wants to feel like that girl / guy / they, this is your moment!

What is editorial style wedding photography? Don’t be intimidated by the word editorial, this is not a full on commercial photoshoot with extra lighting, assistants, and 3hrs for just portraits. Our take on shooting in an editorial style means being more thoughtful and intentional with our approach. It means giving guidance and more specific instructions on what to do and how to do it. It is moving to a different spot in the room for better, or even more dramatic, lighting. If candid style photography is letting you do your own thing and documenting genuine moments, think of editorial style photography as your photographer being more involved in creating beautiful imagery, in addition to organically capturing it.

We love to be more collaborative with couples when it comes to shooting in an editorial style; this means carving out more time for our session— whether it’s your wedding day portraits or at a different shoot entirely like your engagement— by using a mood board to build a cohesive vision, and so you can have some reference photos to look back on as we’re shooting.
