Olivia's Romanian Baptism in Toronto
WHEN YOUR FAMILY FLIES IN FROM ROMANIA AND THE STATES FOR YOUR BAPTISM, YOU KNOW IT'S GOING TO BE A GOOD ONE
And it was! Olivia was baptized in a traditional Romanian ceremony so you know we were already excited; we always love learning about new ceremonies, traditions and religions. St. Timothy's Church (in uptown Toronto) was truly one of the most beautiful churches I've ever been in and I was so thrilled to be shooting in such an incredible location!
The ceremony was both interesting to photograph and watch as it was unfolding. It started with Nyata, Olivia’s mom, being cleansed of her sins by the priest before the ceremony began. Followed by a blessing with just Olivia, her parents, and her godparents before they proceeded to the front of the church with all of their guests. Olivia was blessed with oils and holy water and then being changed into her dress, and finally she was given her first haircut by the priests- how incredible!

AFTER CHURCH WE HEADED TO NYATA + ADRIAN'S HOUSE TO HIDE OUT FROM THE HEAT
Did I mention that this happened on the first weekend of the city's first summer heatwave? Portugal vs. Uruguay game was on so while everyone had a drink and relaxed watching that, we spent some time with baby Olivia and all of the matriarchs in her family before heading out again.
The reception dinner was held at Cibo Wine Bar (their uptown location on Yonge St.) in their private room downstairs. The space was so large and bright (white walls, mirrors on the ceilings- so perfect for bouncing some light around!) and the staff transformed it into the cutest space for everyone to reconvene after a very long and hot day to have some dinner.

Thank you so much for having us N+A! We had so much fun with your families, learning about Romanian cultures and traditions!
