All About Stef

What does your typical day look like?

First thing's first: my tea, in the biggest mug I have. I'm completely Type A so I have to make a list of what I need to do for the day, so I'll do that ASAP or even the night before. I'll go through our Instagram and catch up with everything and then I'll get into work: emails, working on our content calendar to schedule any media posts for the month, as well as our blog. If I need to go out, or even shoot, I prefer to do it all first thing in the morning! If I'm home though I'll usually start writing a post (in full sentences) then pass it off to Hannah to revise/review (when I get down to writing bullet points). If we don't have a lot of Rosewood work to do then I'll usually work on my own personal portfolio and projects, so I always have something to do and am always keeping busy, which I love! Afternoon walks to High Park or Trinity Bellwoods to dog watch are always scheduled on warmer days too haha.

So you're on the Rosewood Instagram account?

Yes! It is me responding to all of your Instagram stories and posts, be not afraid 💁🏻

Favourite people to follow on Instagram?

I actually follow so many florists, I'm obsessed. I discovered Hunt & Gather on there and then realized they're incredibly close by. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing though haha

How do you use Instagram for Rosewood?

I like to use it to post more of our portfolio that may not be up right now, and may not yet be blogged! Stories are really fun too, I try and post behind the scenes when we're shooting or doing something but I always forget haha. I'm working on it though, promise!

If there's anywhere in the world that you could be right now, where would it be?

Provence, France! After shooting Georgia + Mark's wedding in Greece last summer, Ethan and I took some time off and stayed at the most amazing Air BnB/lavender farm- the property, the town, the mountains, the food- it was all such a dream.

What are you most looking forward to this wedding season?

I'm not afraid to say that we actually have a quiet season this year so I'm pretty excited to take that time and really dive into everything. This isn't to say I'm not looking forward to the couples we will be working with this year, I absolutely am, but our first few seasons were so jam packed with weddings, engagements, and other shoots that I feel like I didn't really get a chance to take it in. Now that we have quieter year I really want to focus on our on boarding process, planning/executing styled shoots, and really upping our overall skills.

Where would your dream wedding be to shoot?

Give me Europe, and give me water and I'll be happy!

What's your favourite part while shooting a wedding day?

Wedding speeches! I love getting to learn about our couples, and their stories a bit more from different people and perspectives! I love a good funny speech at dinner.

Tell us about what you do to prepare before shooting a wedding day!

When we first started shooting I was always so nervous, excited and anxious to get to it, I was all over the place. I finally have a good groove now- big breakfast (like Ethan said), review all of our equipment (batteries, memory cards etc.) and then quickly go over the schedule + shot list in the car on the way there.

Who are some of your biggest photography influences?

I interned with Peter Ash Lee when we were in school and learnt so much from him, I absolutely love seeing his work around. I also love following along with Ann Street Studio because Jamie's in Provence (!!) and her self portrait series is amazing!

Favourite movie:

It's a tie between Goldmember and Vacation (I can recite both beginning to end)

Favourite food:

Coconut anything, I loveeee coconuts

Favourite lens:

85mm 1.4

Favourite local getaway:

Ethan's cottage!

Favourite wine:

White wine (Pinot Grigio, or a Sauvignon Blanc) for me is the equivalent of a radler (a great summer drink) otherwise Ethan has finally gotten me to enjoy red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon)

Okay, last question- what's your favourite aspect of being able to work as part of the Rosewood team?

Being able to call this 'work' and 'my job'! It's so crazy! Before meeting Hannah + Ethan and deciding to do all of this I never imagined that I would be so dedicated to running this company with two of my best friends, let alone being able to work and be apart of such momentous occasions with some of the truly most amazing couples, families, friends, and clients #soblessed
