All About Ethan
Q&A WITH ETHAN
Today (March 29!) is your birthday- Happy Birthday! What are you wishing for this year?
Thank you! I'm definitely wishing to get out of the city a lot more this year- plan a few hiking, biking, and camping trips.
Now that you're 25, what are you most looking forward to?
No young driver fees on rental cars anymore, and lower insurance- finally!
What are you most looking forward to this wedding season?
Oh man, Rachel + Brandon's poutine bar this summer!
Your dream wedding (to shoot): Who, What, Where?
Somewhere in the mountains with lush greenery, and lots of fog!
What's your favourite part while shooting a wedding day?
After the ceremony when we're able to work with couples one-on-one! There can be so much stress throughout the day, it's nice to be able to step away from it all for even just a little bit.
Tell us about what you do to prepare before shooting a wedding day!
Having a big breakfast is important because there are usually delays throughout the day, which means delays in when we get to eat next.
Who are some of your biggest photography influences?
I assisted with Chris Wahl a few years ago and learnt a lot from him, he's really great.
So you're into bike riding- tell us more!
When we're not working you can definitely find me out on the trails. I much prefer riding to driving in the city, but I also like mountain biking more than city biking. I've broken both my wrists dirt jumping (on separate occasions), and it wasn't very great haha. I'm excited for the trails to dry so I can ride my new bike this year!
(Ed. note: Ethan broke his femur and kneecap mountain biking in June 2017) Read more about Ethan + biking here
What are your career goals?
It’s simple: to be happy and successful.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVES…
Point Break (the Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze one, obviously)
Grilled octopus, and other rubbery seafood.
Favourite local getaway:
Tommy Thompson Park (the Spit) or somewhere around Georgian Bay.
Peroni (for on the dock) or Muskoka Detour (for in the lodge)
If there's anywhere in the world that you could be right now, where would it be?
Peru or Andora.
What are your favourite trails to ride?
I mostly ride the Don Valley because it's so close. But Kelso (in Milton), 3 Stage (in Collingwood), and Blue Mountain are really fun.
Okay, last question- what's your favourite aspect of being able to work as part of the Rosewood team?
Getting to see Blue so often (haha) and being able to shoot in so many different areas of Ontario that I normally wouldn't travel to.
